Raoul Gunsbourg

Raoul Samuel Gunsbourg ( born January 6, 1860 in Bucharest, † May 31, 1955 in Monte Carlo ) was a Romanian opera director, writer and composer.

Life

Raoul Gunsbourg acquired his musical education and its extensive literature and language knowledge as an autodidact. In 1875 he graduated from the medical school in Bucharest. 1877/78 he served as a medic in the Russian army in the Russo- Turkish War.

1881 founded Gunsbourg a French opera in Moscow. Beginning in 1883, he -actuated for Tsar Alexander III. (1881-1894) Courier Services to France. 1888/89 is Gunsbourg director of the Grand Theatre of Lille, from 1889 to 1891 director of the opera in Nice and from 1892 to 1951 director of the Opéra de Monaco.
