Rashid Ahmad Gangohi

Rashid Ahmad Gangohī (Arabic رشید احمد گنگوهی, DMG Rashid Ahmad Gangūhī, * May 10, 1829; † August 11, 1905 ) was an Indian- Islamic religious scholar who founded in Deoband along with Muhammad Qāsim Nanautawī the Dār al - ʿ ulūm.

His works, he wrote mainly in Urdu. As the best known applies the fatwa collection Fatawa -yi Rashidiya.

Gangohi was based on the Tariqa -yi Muhammadiyah and refused to acquire Western education. Although he did not faced the Sufism disinclined him close to Salafism and Wahhabism was said. In a fatwa factory Fatawa -yi Rashidiya he defended the views of Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab, whereby he drew criticism of Sufi orders, especially from the Barelwi movement in coming. " The followers of Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab, known as Wahhabis. Your aqeedah ( beliefs ) is excellent and their Madhhab is the Hanbalismus. [ ... ] While there are among them who have passed the degree with their high temperament as well as borders and others have harmed, but they are united ( us ) and of one mind in their aqeedah. The difference in their views and actions ( compared to us ) is comparable to the differences within the four madhhabs. "
