Raszyn

Raszyn [ raʃɨn ] is a village and seat of a rural community five kilometers south-west of Warsaw in Poland. It has about 6,800 inhabitants and is part of the powiat Pruszkowski in the Masovian Voivodeship. On April 19, 1809 Polish troops tried in vain during the Austrian campaign against the Duchy of Warsaw in the Battle of Raszyn to prevent the taking of Warsaw.

Radio system in Łazy

Near Raszyn far from the village Łazy is the long-wave transmitter Raszyn of the Polish Radio. This station was first put into service in 1931, served the Greater German Radio as 120 kW long wave transmitter " Warsaw I" ( 224 kHz) and was destroyed in the war. The 1949 finished second antenna mast ( Geographical coordinates: 52 ° 10 '0 "N, 20 ° 56 ' 0" O52.16666666666720.933333333333 ) with a height of 335 meters, was until 1962 the tallest building in Europe. The title, however, came back to Poland in 1974, when the much larger and more centrally located for the current Polish Radio Warsaw radio mast in around 150 km northerly Konstantynów was completed.

First, the transmitter Raszyn was the central longwave transmitter of the Polish Radio before he handed over the first program of the new station in Konstantynów. From 1974 to 1978, the plant was merely a standby transmitter. Since 1978, the second long wave program of the Polish Radio is distributed on the frequency 198 kHz by the transmitter during daytime hours Raszyn. This use was in the period 1991 to 1999, marked by the unexpected collapse of the transmitting mast in Konstantynów, and commissioning of the long wave transmitter in Solec Kujawski ( Schulitz ) temporarily deferred by the renewed demand for reliable and far-reaching broadcast the first program of the Polish Radio. A parallel operation of both programs on the same masts would have been possible only with various swabs and additional expense.
