Ratchaprasong

Ratchaprasong (also Rajprasong or Ratprasong; Thai: แยก ราช ประสงค์, RTGS: Yaek Ratchaprasong, pronunciation [ jɛk râtt͡ɕápràsǒŋ ], colloquially [ râtpràsǒŋ ] ) is the name of a famous intersection, and a shopping mall in Bangkok's Pathum Wan district.

Location

The Rama I Road ( Thanon Phra Ram 1), Ratchadamri Road and Ploenchit Road crossing at the Ratchaprasong intersection. Near the station of the Bangkok Skytrain is Chit Lom. Home to several hotels and shopping centers. Also, the " Police General Hospital", a large, general hospital, located right at the intersection.

History

The Ratchaprasong intersection was the most important scene of riots in Bangkok in 2010.

Traffic

  • BTS Skytrain: BTS - Chit Lom station, connected to by covered pedestrian bridges: Central Chidlom, Maneeya Center, Grand Hyatt Erawan, Gaysorn and Central World. About the pedestrian bridge and the nearby BTS Silom Station can be reached at Siam Square.
  • BTS Ratchadamri station, near the luxury hotel Four Seasons Bangkok and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.
