Rational design

Rational design refers to the strategy of targeted design of molecules, based on previously acquired knowledge. The rational design is often supported by molecular modeling. In contrast, using a directed evolution partly by chance running mutation and subsequent selection.

Examples of rational design are eg drug design, protein design, vector design, primer design, vaccine design and Pathwaydesign.
