Ratko Janev

Ratko Janev ( Macedonian Ратко Jанев; born March 30, 1939 in Sandanski, Bulgaria ) is a Macedonian nuclear physicist.

Life

He studied at the University of Belgrade, where he received his doctorate in 1968. From 1965 he was a member of the Institute of Nuclear Sciences " Boris Kidrič ". Until 1999, he spent more than 11 years as head of the Atomic and Molecular Data Unit of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, his successor there was Robert Clark.

Janev was in 1972 extraordinary professor of nuclear physics at the University of Skopje and Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Belgrade. In the years around 2002 to 2004 he was a member of the Institute of Plasma Physics at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

Ratko Janev is a member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts. In 2004, he was the Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation receives, as its run jointly with the Research Centre Jülich project 'Modelling and Diagnostics of Fusion Edge / divertor plasmas " have an understanding of cold boundary layer plasmas substantially advanced in nuclear fusion reactors.
