Ravindra Kelekar

Ravindra Kelekar ( born March 25, 1925 in Cuncolim, Goa; † August 27, 2010 in Margao, Goa) was an Indian writer, translator and activist.

He composed over 100 works in Konkani, the dialect of Marathi, and in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. In particular, his work on Gandhi's ideology in India are considered classics. His translation of the Mahabharata in Konkani is one of the most important pieces of literature in India.

2006 Kelekar the Jnanpith Award, the most important Indian literature prize was, and in 2008 awarded the third highest Indian civilian award, the Padma Bhushan.

Kelekar is buried with a state funeral.
