Raymond McCreesh
Raymond Peter McCreesh (Irish Réamann Mac Raois, born February 25, 1957 in Camlough, † May 21 1981 in the Maze Prison ) was a member of the IRA and hunger striker.
Raymond McCreesh grew up the seventh of eight children in Camlough in the Northern Ireland County Armagh.
Even as a teenager, he took an active part in the struggle against the British occupiers and was at the age of 16 years a member of Fianna Éireann, a youth wing of the Irish Republican movement.
After he joined the Provisional Irish Republican Army, he was arrested in 1976 after a failed attack on British troops and sentenced to a prison term of 14 years.
On March 22, 1981, he joined, as well as Patsy O'Hara, in the hunger strike of 1981, as a result he died 61 days later.
