Reading Terminal

The Reading Terminal is a complex of buildings in the U.S. city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is to the former inner-city central train station of the Reading Company, as such, was in operation from 1893 to 1984. The complex is located at the corner of 12th and Market Street, and consists essentially of three parts, the former station building ( Reading Terminal Headhouse ), the former platform area ( Reading Terminal trainshed ) and the underlying market halls, the Reading Terminal Market.

The transport activities were taken over in 1984 together with the Center City Commuter Connection created new underground Market East Station. Since then, driven by the SEPTA commuter trains are bound to the former Reading routes underneath downtown to 30th Street Station.
