Ready for the World

Ready for the World is an American R & B / Funk / Dance band from Flint, Michigan, who had several moderate pop, soul and dance hits mid-1980s. It was founded by Melvin Riley and Gordon Strozier.

They appeared originally in talent shows in high schools in Flint and were discovered by the radio personality The Electrifying Mojo 1982. They gained regional recognition with her first song Tonight 1983. This has become a Untergrundhit in Flint and Detroit, which helped to gain national prominence shortly after they had signed the contract with MCA. Ready for the World recorded their album Ready for the World in 1984 in Flint, Michigan under the direction of Bernard Terry.

History

The group consists of vocalist and keyboardist Melvin Riley with Gordon Strozier (guitar), Gregory Potts (keyboards), Willie Triplett (percussion, keyboards), John Eaton (bass guitar) and Gerald Valentine ( drums). The album Ready for the World was published in 1985 and included their classic Oh Sheila, who became an international success. The song digital display followed and reached number 21 In 1986, the band released their second album Long Time Coming out from the slow Love you down could rise to No. 9 in the USA. The band released a few more albums in the 1990s, but these were less successful than the first.

When the band broke up in 1994, the singer Riley turned to his solo career and took in 1994 and 2000, an album. From 1995 to 2000, the band teamed up again and produced two unsuccessful albums. A reunion album followed in 2004 with mostly urban ballads.
