Rebecca Blank

Rebecca M. Blank ( born September 19, 1955 in Minneapolis -Saint Paul ) is an American economist and politician of the Democratic Party. She's since July 2011 incumbent, since October 21, 2011 officially appointed Deputy Minister of Trade. After health reasons 11 June 2012 declared leave of absence from Trade Minister John Bryson and his officially declared resignation on June 21, it has provisionally taken over the office.

Rebecca Blank holds a degree summa cum laude in Economics at the University of Minnesota and a Ph.D. in economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She has held professorships at Princeton University (1983-1989), MIT (1988-1989) and Northwestern University ( 1989-1999). From 1998 to 1999 she served on the Council of Economic Advisers.
