RECCO

RECCO is the brand name of the company RECCO AB ( Sweden) sold worldwide avalanche search system. The RECCO system works with passive reflectors and active detectors on the principle of harmonic radar. The reflectors do not require their own power supply and can therefore be installed in inexpensive winter sports clothing and equipment. The system can facilitate professional rescue teams finding spillage.

Technology

Basisert the system on the principle of frequency-doubling by a semiconductor diode. The maximum range of the RECCO system is according to the manufacturer 200 meters at the surface and 20 meters in the search in the snow. The search system can be used from helicopters.

The mountain rescue services must be equipped with an active detector. Of this hand-held device radio signals are emitted, which are ( mounted in the clothing or on the equipment) reflected by the reflectors.
