Recess (Holy Roman Empire)

As Reich farewell, also called Reichsrezess, the totality of advised on a Diet of the Holy Roman Empire and adopted provisions referred to, had to read at the end of the emperors.

Until 1654 the Reichstag began - in addition to ceremonial acts - with the reading of the imperial proposition of the Emperor predetermined agenda, and they ended up with reading and authentication of decisions, the realm farewell.

The last of these goodbyes kingdom is the youngest Recess ( recessus imperii novissimus ) designated and contained the consultation results from the years 1653/54 to the Reichstag in Regensburg.

Since the Perpetual Imperial Diet has not been formally terminated since 1663, its decisions could not be worked out as Recess. The decisions were therefore deposited in the form of so-called Empire conclusions. Ratification of these decisions was carried out mostly by the representative of the Emperor in the Reichstag, the principal commissioner, in the form of an Imperial Commissions - Decrets.
