Red Barons Cologne

The Red Barons Cologne were from 1981 until its dissolution in 1991, a American football club in Cologne.

The Red Baron was founded on April 16, 1981, a year before, two years older local rivals Cologne Crocodiles first time was in the final of the German Cup.

However, it was the Red Barons, where it was the first and until 2000, in which the Lizards won the Bowl, the only Cologne team managed to win the German Bowl. In the German Bowl X on 15 October 1988, the Red Barons Cologne Dusseldorf defeated the Panthers in Berlin's Olympic Stadium before 11,000 spectators at 25:20.

Even in the following year were the barons, after winning the North of the Bundesliga, again in the final. German Bowl XI was lost with 30:23 in Nuremberg before 10,500 spectators against the Berlin Adler.

The Red Barons Cologne split up in 1991. Some players increased from 1992 in 1987 founded Cologne Bears, which in turn were disbanded in 1994, after which the Cologne Falcons were launched. This then went on in 2011 but in the AFC Cologne Falcons.

The Austrian Josef Joe Beck was a loyal player who has the club mitbegleitet 10 years and twice mitgewann the championship.
