Red beans and rice

Red beans and rice is a stew from the southern United States, this is mainly for the region around New Orleans typically and originally comes from the Creole kitchen, but can also be found in Cajun cuisine in Louisiana.

The stew whose main ingredients are red beans (often kidney beans, but also special red beans from Louisiana) and rice is traditionally made on Mondays with leftover from the weekend smoked or cured ham bone that are being dealt with in court and give it extra spice.

Other ingredients commonly used are smoked sausages and garlic as well as the so-called " Cajun Trinity ", which consists of onions, peppers and celery, flavored with Tabasco sauce is strong.
