The Red Weißeritz in Schmiedeberg

The Red White Ritz is one of the two sources of Weißeritz in Saxony. It rises with Cínovec George Field (city Altenberg ) in the Eastern Ore Mountains, and joins in Hainberg (city Freital ) with the savages Weißeritz for " United " Weißeritz.

Course

From the source of the river at the store Altenberg ( source rivers: Neugraben, cross ditch, Sandbach ) to the middle reaches flowing through the Red Weißeritz in a narrow and heavily sunken valley larger forest areas and the places Waldbärenburg, Kipsdorf, Schmiedeberg, Obercarsdorf and Ulberndorf before it reaches Dippoldiswalde. Use

At the Red Weißeritz created numerous mill plants, the water power of the river took advantage. Known mills on the river are the Scheller mill at Schellerhau that Riedelmuhle Waldbärenburg, the village mill Obercarsdorf, the Rath mill Dippoldiswalde that Rabenauer mill and the mill Coßmannsdorfer. In addition, in 1900 a number of power stations on the Red Weißeritz were built, there was electricity plants in Malter, Seifersdorf and Coßmannsdorf.

In June 1961, the World Championships were on the Red Weißeritz in Rabenauer reason of Seifersdorf to Freital discharged in whitewater racing and canoe slalom. For there is enough water in the river was attended by the drain of Malter Dam. The competition saw 30,000 to 40,000 spectators.

The valley of the Red Weißeritz is for the development of the eastern Ore Mountains on traffic of particular importance.
