Redelinghuys

Province

Redelinghuys is a town in the municipality Bergrivier, district, West Coast, Western Cape Province in South Africa. In 2011 he had 574 inhabitants. It is located about 190 kilometers north of Cape Town. As with many places in Sandveld of potato cultivation is a major economic factor.

Redelinghuys was originally part of the farm Wittedrift. Sir George Napier handed them over in 1841 Hendrik Koetzee, who died in 1848. JNL Redelinghuys bought the farm and gave the church a piece of the farm as a gift. The construction of the first church began in 1866; 1873 the first service was held. 1921 a new church was built, the old church bell is still in use.
