History

The first edition of Reformatorisch Dagblad published on 1 April 1971, a time when already the majority of the once ecclesiastical newspapers had partially or completely detached from their background. Although there was no prospect of beginning to become a mass newspaper, the Reformatorisch Dagblad could now, because there are hardly any newspapers were with a church background, set in a niche. In contrast to almost all other regional and national newspapers in the Netherlands it has not lost since the turn of the millennium even in the face of new competition in the form of the Internet and free newspapers to run.

Although comments in the Christian conservative direction can clearly be distinguished (abortion, evolution, gay marriage, etc.), and pleas for an offensive dealing with reality were there to read. This approach has also been implemented in the reporting, which went down in, for example, an information session of COC Nederland.

In December 2004, the newspaper launched the web portal Yord, which is aimed at young people.

Remarkable

The orthodox character of the newspaper was transferred to the website, this is still closed on Sundays, this also applies to Yord (as of 2008 ).
