Reformed Episcopal Church

The Reformed Episcopal Church is an Anglican church which has separated from the Anglican Communion. Since 2009 she is part of the Anglican Church in North America.

It was founded on December 2, 1873 by Bishop George David Cummins and other former pastors of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America because they feared a loss of Protestantism in parts of the Episcopal Church and the Church of England by the growing acceptance of the Oxford Movement. Theologically, the Church confesses the English Reformation, the 39 articles of faith of the English Church and used as a liturgy their own Book of Common Prayer, which is based on the Book of Common Prayer of 1662 the Church of England. The conservative wing of the Anglican Communion to be related the Reformed Episcopal Church has an agreement to the church community that does not apply to the Iglesia Anglicana del Cono Sur de América and a Concordat with the Church of Nigeria for other member churches of the Anglican Communion. The current Presiding Bishop of the Church is Leonard W. Riches.

Dissemination

Today, the Reformed Episcopal Church organized in the United States and Canada in six dioceses with a total of 135 parishes. In addition, there are parishes in Germany, Brazil, India, Cuba and Liberia.
