Refrigerator magnet

A refrigerator magnet is a decorative element that can incidentally also have practical benefits. William Zimmerman of St. Louis (Missouri ) announced in the early 1970s as the first patent on a small colorful cardboard- magnets, which were suitable for decoration or for variable mounting of note papers.

Types of refrigerator magnets

The fridge magnets are made of magnets and a variety of possible colors, shapes and designs, which are firmly attached to the magnet. The Russian-language web community, which includes several hundred collectors, has even introduced a concept in 2008, which is intended to describe the collection of fridge magnets - Memomagnetik ( Russian: мемомагнетика ). This term was derived from two words: memoriale (Latin ) and magnetis ( gr ).

The largest collection in the world

The American Luise J. Green color from Henderson ( Nevada) holds the world record as a collector of refrigerator magnets and is thus entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. Their collection now includes more than 30,000 items. About 7,000 of them are exhibited in Vegas Guinness Museum in Las.

Special shapes

In the 1990s, Fridge Magnets came in the form of whole syllables and words with which so-called refrigerator poetry could be operated in a manageable amount of time. At other stronger magnets with hook attachment key or pot holders can be hung. Even small photo frames are possible.
