Refuge Aoste

The Rifugio Aosta is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Valais Alps. It lies at an altitude of 2788 m within the community Bionaz on the grounds of the glacier Glacier de Tsa de Tsan skin. The lodge is run from mid- April to mid- May and from late June to early September and offers at this time 24 climbers sleeps.

Increase

The road to the cabin starts at the car park at the Place Moulin dam. From there, the first level path through a dirt road to the Rifugio Prarayer leads (only a few minutes after parking the way to Rifugio Col Collon Nacamuli al turns left ). Up there the path leads almost exclusively along the lake. Only during the last 15 minutes climb along meadows to the refuge.

After the Rifugio Prarayer the trail continues up the valley. After about 20 minutes you reach a bridge and it goes steeply upwards to overcome a ravine. Then you get to a glacier formed by alluvial plain, the Alp de Tsa de Tsan. After about 30 minutes you will reach after a step in the terrain, the alluvial plain of the Glacier de Tsa Tsan. The last part of the ascent to the ground by glaciers rock is secured by chains.

Almost 4 hours are to be estimated for the entire route from the car park to the Rifugio Aosta.

History

The construction of a first refuge was already in 1908. However, this building was the victim of an avalanche in 1951. Five years later, the new Aosta hut was opened. The roof of this hut was covered in 1990 by a violent storm. The Rifugio Aosta appears today, was opened in 1995.
