Refuge Barmasse

The Rifugio Barmasse is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Valais Alps. It lies at an altitude of 2169 m in the valley Valtournenche near the Lago di Cignana within the municipality of Valtournenche. The lodge is run from mid- June to early September and offers at this time 24 climbers sleeps.

Rise

The climb to the hut starts in the area Valmartin ( 1495 m) all near Valtournenche and via a remote part of the path Alta Via della Val d' Aosta n.1 to artificially dammed Lago di Cignana ( 2158 m). Not far at the other end of the dam is the Rifugio Barmasse, which is reached in about 1 ½ hours.

History

The refuge was opened in 1965. It is named after the builder and previous owner, Professor Barmasse.

From Rifugio Barmasse to the Santuario di Gilliarey ( 2174 m), the Monte Pancherot ( 2614 m), the lakes Laghi di Balanselmo ( 2740 m ) and Laghi di Cortina ( 2083 m) can be achieved.

  • Transition to bivouac Bivaccho Ducchio Manenti ( 2789 m).
  • Transition to bivouac Bivaccho Tzan ( 2459 m) at the Tzan.
  • Transition to bivouac Renzo Rivolta Bivaccho (2900 m) at the Col di Fort
