Refuge des Anges au Morion

The Rifugio degli Angeli al Morion is a refuge in the Aosta Valley in the Graian. It lies at an altitude of 2916 m within the Valgrisenche. The lodge is run from mid-June to mid-September and offers at this time 52 climbers sleeps.

The refuge is located near the glacier Ghiacciaio di Morion, which takes its origin at the Testa del Rutor. The location of the cottage overlooks the Grande Sassière, the Gran Paradiso, a part of the Monte Rosa - group, the Matterhorn and the Grand Combin.

Increase

The shortest way to the hut begins in Bonne above the dam of the reservoir Lago di Beauregard at an altitude of 1,810 m. From there the trail leads first to Arp Vieille ( 2,200 m), to then pass on the former military site Capitano Crova ( 2430 m) and the level of plan you mash the hut.

For all the way from the dam to the refuge almost 3h 30 are to be estimated.

History

The construction of a first refuge under the name Cléa Scavarda already took place in 1884. However, this building was destroyed by fire in 1990. The reconstruction work was carried out from 2003 by volunteers of the auxiliary project Operation Mato Grosso. The hut was opened in 2005 and has since been operated by volunteers. The net proceeds will go to projects in Mato Grosso.
