Regal Records (1921)

Regal Records was an American record label of the 1920s and 1930s.

History

Regal was founded in 1921 and published Masters of Emerson Records. Most plates were sold for 50 cents in department stores. Famous musicians whose recordings were released on shelf were, among others, Fletcher Henderson, Eubie Blake, Original Memphis Five, Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington. Shortly after the establishment, in August 1922, Regal was acquired by the Scranton Button Company.

Scranton merged in 1929 along with other record companies to the American Record Corporation, and hence was also part of this group's shelf Records. Notable releases were singles by Jack and Irving Kaufman, Billy Murray, Roy Smeck, Rex Cole's Mountaineers, Carson Robison and Frank Luther. Regal Records ARC 1931 has been set.
