Reginald Schroeter

John Reginald " Reg" Schroeter ( born September 11, 1921 in Ottawa, Ontario, † July 30, 2002 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Reg Schroeter began his career as a hockey player in the Ottawa Junior Hockey League, where he was active for the Ottawa Westboro Spearman in the season 1937/38, Ottawa and LaSalle in the 1939/40 season. In the season 1940/41, he ran for the Ottawa Senators. Further stations at senior level were the Ottawa Princess Pat Dragoons and the Ottawa Canadiens, Ottawa District Depot and the Ottawa Senators from the Upper Ottawa Valley Hockey League. In 1947, he joined the New Edinburgh burghs, represented before it in 1948 with the RCAF Flyers Canada at the Olympic Winter Games. Previously, he had already served during the Second World War as an Air Crew Instructor in the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Internationally

For Canada Schroeter took part in the Winter Olympics 1948 in St. Moritz, where he won the gold medal with his team. In eight games, he scored twelve goals and five assists.
