Regionalliga West
The Football Regionalliga West is a league in German football. She is one of five regional leagues, currently make up the fourth-highest division in the league system in Germany. Seasons the West Regional
Second-class Regional (1963-1974)
From 1963/64 bis of 1973/74 was the Regionalliga West, together with the regional leagues north, Berlin, West and South, a total of five second- highest leagues under the Bundesliga. It included at that time the state of North Rhine -Westphalia. The champions and runners took part in the promotion round to the Bundesliga.
Regional fourth-rate in three seasons (2008-2012)
With the introduction of the 3rd Liga Regionalliga from the 2008/09 season was in three seasons played (Regionalliga North, West and South). Thus, the Regional League West came back, but was now only viertklassig. Its catchment area was North Rhine -Westphalia, Rhineland -Palatinate and Saarland, so as the area of the Regionalliga West / Southwest 1994-2000.
