Rego Park, Queens

Rego Park is a neighborhood in central Queens in New York City, USA. It is bordered to the north by Elmhurst and Corona, the east and south by Forest Hills and the west by Middle Village.

History

The name Rego Park dates back to the construction company Real Good Construction Company, which founded Rego Park in the 20s. Until then there was only farmland. English and Dutch farmers settled in the area in 1653 and built on rye, oats and various vegetables. End of the 19th century, the original settlers were replaced by Chinese farmers who leased the land and there cultivated their own crops, which they sold at markets in Chinatown.
