Rein van Duijnhoven

Rein van Duijnhoven ( born September 5, 1967 in Veghel ) is a former Dutch football player.

Career

After starting out at VV Nuenen Van Duijnhoven came over TSV LONGA Tilburg and Helmond Sport MVV Maastricht in 1994. In the 1995/96 season as the goalkeeper in MVV Maastricht he achieved a goal that was voted the goal of the year in the Netherlands. It was, however, no Abstoßtor, as is often assumed, but a free kick from about 80 meters.

In 1999, the goalkeeper to Germany at that relegated Bundesliga VfL Bochum. At first he was only substitute keeper behind Thomas Ernst, whom he still displaced during the 1999/2000 season from stem - Eleven, where he became a crowd favorite and a cult figure of VfL Bochum. In the 2001 /02 season he was voted the best goalkeeper second division. Also in the Bundesliga was " RvD " a performer of VfL. He was hailed by fans as " the world's best goalkeeper", as the team under Peter Neururer 2003/ 04 the feeder reached for the second time in the UEFA Cup. In this season, " RvD " was instrumental in this success, as he remained 13 home games and 911 minutes without conceding a goal in their own stadium.

Since the 2007/ 08 season, he stands with his former club, the Dutch second division side Helmond Sport ( Eerste Divisie ), as a goalkeeper coach under contract. In 2007 he received the title of Carnival in Helmond " Prince Carnival "
