Reingard M. Nischik

Reingard Monika Nischik ( born November 3, 1952 in Herford ) is a German literary scholar and university teacher.

Career

Nischik studied English and North American Literature and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne in 1977 and laid the first state exam. 1978/1979 she spent part of their promotion and funded by a grant from the Canadian government for a year at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. 1980, she was awarded by the University of Cologne, the doctorate; her dissertation she wrote to Einsträngigkeit and Mehrsträngigkeit the action guide in novels Anglophone literatures. From 1984 to 1989, Nischik employed in their habilitation at the University of Cologne and at the University of London with narratology and style theory. After she had worked from 1979 to 1986 as a research assistant at the Department of Anglo-American Literature at the University of Cologne, she moved in 1988 to a professorship of General and Comparative Literature at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In 1992, she was Professor of English Philology at the Institute for North American Studies, Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, before she accepted in 1994 a call to the chair of American Studies at the University of Konstanz. In the academic year 2009/2010 Nischik was a Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence " Cultural Foundations of Integration" at the University of Konstanz, funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments to promote science and research at German universities.

Research priorities

In teaching, as well as in numerous publications to Reingard Nischik has focused on the literatures and cultures of Canada and the United States, as well as with special emphasis in the areas of narratology, the short story, the work of Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, cultural transfer, Literature and Media literature and gender.

Teaching and promotion of young

Pays special attention RM Nischik addition to research on the teaching and especially the young talent. In addition to its long-standing commitment to international exchange compounds, especially with Canadian and U.S. universities, it has up to now serves about 30 PhD students who have received numerous scholarships and awards for young.
