Reisberg (Scheßlitz)

The Reisberg, also called setback Reuther Mountain, is a 553.9 m above sea level. NN high hill or mountain spur on the western edge of the Franconian Alb in defeat Reuth in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg, Bavaria ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The rice mountain rises in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park Veldenstein Forest within the Franconian Switzerland about 600 m northeast of defeat Reuth, a ostnordöstlichen district of Scheßlitz.

The plateau of wooded mountain rice falls away steeply on three sides and is connected only on the eastern side of the plateau of the Franconian Alb.

Through the valley west of the rice mountain location of Leitenbach inflow ( Scheßlitz ) Ellernbach flows in a north-south direction, among others, by the Scheßlitz Districts Ehrl and Burgellern. Runs on the south side of the mountain, between junctions Scheßlitz in the west and Roßdorf ( to Stadelhofen ) in the east, the Federal Highway 70

History

On the Reisberg yet Wall and grave remains of a prehistoric section Fastening the Wallburg welding fields are present. During the migration period was on the Reisberg a hillfort, which was protected by a post slot wall. This wall was probably built in the year 400 AD, but was apparently destroyed again due to acts of war before the middle of the 5th century. A reconstruction of the attachment can not be proven, but the plateau was inhabited until the end of the 5th century. From Childeric time are silver plated findings that indicate close ties to former Czech cultures. Utilisation during the 6th century is not detectable. However, the mountain was visited again in the later Merovingian and Carolingian- Ottonian in time.

Reserves

There are two small areas of the multipartite Fauna- Flora-Habitat area Albtrauf of Dörnwasserlos to Zeegendorf ( FFH-Nr. 6032-371 ) on the south and south-eastern edge of the rice mountain. The entire mountain is also one to the western part of the company founded in 2001 and 1021.64 km ² large nature preserve Franconian Switzerland Veldenstein Forest ( LSG-Nr. 322697 ).
