Reistingen Abbey

The monastery Reistingen was a former Kanonissenstift in Reistingen, a district of Ziertheim in Bavaria.

History

The 14th century St. Peter, now St. Peter and St. Vitus consecrated monastery was founded before 1250 by the counts of Dillingen. Until the mid-13th century it was probably Benedictine monastery, from the 13th/14th. Kanonissenstift century. Pope Nicholas V in 1450 lifted the pen in favor of the episcopal mensa of Augsburg. 1465 used the bishop a part of the income to purchase books for its liturgical Dillinger court orchestra. The collegiate church is now used as the parish church of St. Vitus.
