Relief of Thionville

The battle of Thionville found in 1639 during the Thirty Years' War between the French and the Imperial and Spanish forces at Thionville (Lorraine ) instead.

Description

Thionville in Lorraine was under siege by French troops under the leadership of Manasses de Pas, Marquis de Feuquières. The siege was posted on June 7, 1639 commanded blown up by Octavio Piccolomini and defeated the French army in spite of stubborn resistance from a devastating cause back end supremacy of imperial and Spanish troops.

Feuquières came after the lost battle in captivity and died of his wounds suffered in combat on March 13 1640th

For this victory in one of the last great battles of the Thirty Years' War Piccolomini was rewarded by the Spanish King Philip IV ( as king of Naples that name of III. ) On 28 June, with the Duchy of Amalfi and encumbered.

On August 10, 1643, French troops occupied and conquered the place again.
