Relja Bašić

Relja Bašić ( born February 14, 1930 in Zagreb) is a Croatian actor and politician.

Life

Bašić closed in 1955, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts of his native town with diploma. The previous year, he celebrated his film debut in Koncert. During the next decades, he became one of the most prolific character actor of Yugoslavia and later Croatia, where it was also used several times in international productions. He often played aristocratic criminals, especially in films about the Second World War; However, his most famous role was in the 1970 Mr. Fulir incurred Musical Tko pjeva zlo ne misli.

He also was a member of the Croatian National Theatre from 1955 to 1967 and played in 4213 performances; in addition he also served as artistic director.

In the 1990s Bašić supported the Social Liberal Party of Croatia and represents them since 1993 also in the upper house of parliament. He was appointed a UNESCO " Artist for Peace".
