Renate Weber

Renate Weber ( born August 3, 1955 in Botosani ) is a Romanian politician.

Weber is a member of the Liberal Party of Romania ( Partidul Naţional Liberal ) since 2007. In the same year she became a member of the European Parliament.

Life

In 1979, Renate Weber her law degree from the University of Bucharest successfully and has been since worked as a lawyer. At Columbia University in New York in 1994, she received a scholarship guest.

Since 1997 he has been an instructor, so from 1997 to 2003 at the National School for Political and Administrative Studies. She also teaches at the Faculty of History at the University of Bucharest.

Weber was 1998-2007 Chairman of the Soros Foundation and is director of the Centre for Legal Resources. She is also active in various human rights organizations.

As an author she has published over 50 articles and studies.

Policy

Politically Renate Weber initially worked until December 2005 as Advisor to the President of Romania on Constitutional and legislative issues by December 2004.

Since 2007 she is member of the European Parliament. She was director of three election observation delegations of the European Parliament: Ecuador (2008, 2009) and Bolivia ( 2009).

MEP

In the period from 2009 to 2014 Weber is a member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the special committee on organized crime, corruption and money laundering, in the Delegation for relations with the countries of the Andean Community and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly Euro- Latin America.

As a deputy she is in the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-Mexico, the Delegation to the EU-Chile Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation to the ACP -EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.
