Renato Zaccarelli

Renato Zaccarelli ( born January 18, 1951 in Ancona ) is a former Italian footballer and football coach.

Career

Zaccarelli began his career in the youth team of AC Torino. In 1968 he was on loan to Catania, where it was used twice. A year later he came back to Turin, never came there in two years but used. He then worked for year at Novara Calcio and then a year at Hellas Verona, where he noticed the positive charge of the club Torino and he moved back again to his original club in 1974. In a total of 13 years, Torino 1976 Zaccarelli won the Italian league title. In 1986 he became Italy's player of the year. He finished his career in 1987.

International midfielder played 25 times for Italy, scoring two goals. He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1978 in Argentina and was part of the Azzurri fourth. Zaccarelli was used at this World Cup five times and scored in the 2-1 win against France in the first group match the winning goal to make it 2-1. He also took part in the 1980 European in their home country, where he could again win the fourth place.

Coaching career

After his playing career Zaccarelli took over the Italian U- 21 team for several years. In 2003 he took over as coach at AC Turin and was the coach of the club until 2005. Afterwards he was sports director at FC Bologna, this post has Zaccarelli also currently holds.
