Calcio Catania
Catania Calcio ( officially: Catania Calcio 1946 SpA) is an Italian football club from the Sicilian city of Catania. The club colors are red and azure. As the stadium Stadio Angelo Massimino, the club serves, it can accommodate 23,420 spectators. Currently the club plays in the Italian Serie A. At the end of the 2005/06 season Catania took second place in Serie B and thus increased directly in the Serie A on.
Fan riots in February 2007
On 2 February 2007, it came during the Sicilian derby against Palermo to Catania clashes between Ultras and police. In this case, a 38 -year-old police officer was killed in his car, he probably died of internal injuries. The Italian Football Federation then stopped indefinitely all other Football matches in Italy, including those of the national team. The club president and owner of Catania, Antonino Pulvirenti, expressed to retire because of the events in the football business.
