René-Antoine Houasse

René- Antoine Houasse (* 1645, † 1710) was a French painter.

Life

Houasse was a student of the French painter Charles Le Brun, under whose direction he worked at the Manufacture des Gobelins in Paris. Together with him he worked on the decoration of the Palace of Versailles. From 1669 to 1704 Houasse was director of the Académie de France à Rome. His son was the French painter Michel -Ange Houasse.
