René Brô

René Brô, really René Brault ( born November 21, 1930 in Charenton, near Paris; † 6 December 1986 Courgeron, Municipality of Le Pin -au- Haras, Lower Normandy ) was a French painter.

Life and work

René Brô ended his normal schooling age of fourteen and then attended various art schools. As a frequent visitor to the Musée de l' Homme and the Louvre he was particularly impressed by breed type and ältägyptischer art. His works from this period also remember Paul Klee.

1949, after his first exhibition participation, Brô hitchhiked together with his future wife Micheline Breuil and Bernard Rousseau by Italy and learned in Florence Austrian painter Hundertwasser know, with whom he subsequently formed a lifelong friendship. Together with Hundertwasser in 1950 he created two murals in an old hunting lodge of Dumage family in Saint- Mandé near Paris, which was later destroyed. So the mural La pêche miraculeuse came in the Kunsthaus Wien, the other, Pays des arbres, des oiseaux et des poissons in a synagogue in Long Iceland, New York.

As of 1957, the friends shared some years a studio in the village Courgeron, maintained the Brô later.

In 1954 Brô his first solo exhibition in Paris. In 1964 he was the representative of France at the Venice Biennale. From 1968 the artist lived for ten years in Venice, later great trips have taken him to Tahiti.
