René Duchez

René Duchez (* 1903, † 1948) was a French interior decorator and a member of the Resistance during World War II.

Life

René Duchez was a member of the local chapter of the Caener Organisiation centuria, a part of the resistance group OCM. The organization Centurie acted in much of France as a news service.

Duchez made ​​a significant contribution to the mapping of the French North Sea coast in advance of the Allied landings in Normandy by a file with the exact blueprints of the fortifications of the Atlantic Wall stole from an office of the Organisation Todt in Caen and the British Secret Intelligence handed service. Duchez entered the premises of the organization by having been awarded the contract for a wallpapering job of the local Todt leaders, site manager Schnedderer.

René Duchez and his wife were discovered by the Gestapo. Rene was able to escape a house search by pretending to be an unhappy customer. His wife was arrested, interrogated and deported. After the war she returned and is still living ( 2009). Duchez continued his activities in which he organized, among other resistance movements in Normandy.
