René Léonard

René Léonard was a French racing driver.

René Léonard worked as André Lagache in the 1920s as an engineer at Chenard Walcker &. The two were also active as a driver and belonged in 1923 to the works team of the French brand that was launched with the first 24 - hour race at Le Mans. Léonard and Lagache won the race after a driving time of 24 hours and 2209 kilometers driven on their Chenard Walcker & sport with a lead of four laps on their teammates Raoul Bachmann and Christian d' Auvergne. They were the first overall winner of the now most important endurance race in the world. Also, 1924 and 1925 Léonard was with Lagache at Le Mans at the start. Both times ended the race prematurely for technical defects.

1925 won Léonard Lagache with the 24 Hours of Spa -Francorchamps. 1925 Chenard Walcker & end retired from racing and Leonard worked as an engineer again.
