René Roemersma

René Roemersma ( born March 27, 1958) is a former Dutch left anti-apartheid activist and gained international Presseaufmerksamkeitals single Doomed member and alleged leader of the Dutch terrorist group " Revolutionaire anti - Racistische Actie ( RaRa ) ".

Work

Roemersma was arrested and charged to have been in contact with the RaRa attacks on April 11, 1988 in Amsterdam. Among the RaRa attacks a series of arson attacks on the Dutch- German supermarket chain macro on branches of Forbo Holding and Shell gas stations to be understood. The aim of these attacks was to move the respective companies to withdraw from South Africa and so to set an example in the fight against the imperialist system, which the apartheid regime in South Africa get erect due to political and economic interests. This strategy had both at macro and at Forbo success. Roemersma was arrested along with seven other suspects and convicted shortly thereafter to 5 years imprisonment for arson, among others. In an appeal, the Amsterdam Court ruled that the evidence had been used for the original judgment has been obtained illegally. Then, his punishment was reduced to 18 months.

From 2005 to 2006 Roemersma worked at the Institute Panos Paris for which he the OECD Conference Deepening Voice and Accountability to Fight Poverty on 30 and 31 May 2006: A Dialogue of Communication Implementers visited. In 2006 he was a member of the Niza ( Netherlands Institute of South Africa) and as an observer of the 2006 election in the Congo. Together with Jolien Schure he published after the book Verkiezingen in Congo over loze beloftes s Tellen dead diep in de nacht ( elections in Congo, on false promises and numbering well into the night). In 2007 he was involved in Ecuador in the construction of the Latin American broadcasting network " ALER ". The aim was that improved communication to increase the participation of the people in democracy.
