René Saorgin

René Saorgin ( born October 21, 1928 in Cannes ) is a French organist.

Saorgin studied at the Conservatory of Nice with Maurice Duruflé. From 1951 to 1954 he was organist at Saint- Pierre de Montmartre, since 1954 at Saint -Jean -Baptiste. In the same year he was organ teacher at the Conservatory of Nice. He was a teacher of Henri- Claude Fantapié, Scott Ross and Philippe Mabboux. From 1969 to 1971 he was director of the Conservatory of Ajaccio.

Saorgin devoted himself particularly to the care of the Italian organ music. At organs in Bastia, Brescia, he played a works of Girolamo Frescobaldi. Its resulting 1966-1973 recording of the complete works for organ by Dietrich Buxtehude is considered to be exemplary. In 1974 he played on the organ of Malaucène the largely forgotten Toccatas by Georg Muffat one.
