René van der Linden

René van der Linden ( born December 14, 1943 Eys, Mechelen -Wittem ) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratisch Appèl.

Life

Linden studied 1966-1970 Economics at Tilburg University. From 1977 to 1986, from 1988 to 1998 Linden was a deputy in the Second Chamber of the States General. In the meantime, between 1986 and 1988, he worked as State Secretary in the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1989 to 2004 Linden deputy in the European Parliament. In 1999 Linden is Senator in the First Chamber of the States General. From 2009 to 2011, he was the successor of Yvonne Timmerman - Buck in this chamber President of the Senate; he was succeeded by Fred de Graaf. From 2005 to 2008 Linden was also the successor of Peter Schieder Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council, whose member he has been since 1989.
