Rensho

The Rensho (Japanese连署; "co- signer ") was the assistant to the Shikken ( regent ) of the Kamakura shogunate in Japan.

The Rensho put his signature on official orders in addition to that of the Shikken. 1224 appointed the third Shikken Hojo Hojo Yasutoki the Tokifusa as first Rensho. From then on, the Rensho from influential members of the Hojo clan was, however, not from the main line of the clan ( TOKUSO ) selected. The only exception was made in the case of Hojo Tokimune who temporarily held this position from 1264 to 1268.
