Rescue Diver

Rescue Diver ( abbreviated RD, German translation " rescue diver " ) is the name of a certification card in the PADI and SDI training system. Prerequisite for these devices diver training is the " Advanced Open Water Diver " course ( AOWD ) and treated dealing with emergencies under water. After the " Rescue Diver " certification card can a diver in the Divemaster course that can be the first step to a career instructor, acquire more knowledge. In the German -speaking world the name in English is exclusively used also to avoid confusion with professional rescue divers.

Dissemination and standardization

PADI and SDI offer equivalent training under the name of " Rescue Diver ". NAUI is called the equivalent certification " Rescue Scuba Diver", SSI calls it " Diver Stress and Rescue " and BSAC " Rescue Specialist ". The " Rescue Diver " training equivalent to the CMAS " two star " certification. But the CMAS course includes more content, because it also parts of the PADI " Open Water Diver " course are included. In contrast to the " Open Water Diver" - or " Divemaster " certification card the " Rescue Diver " certification is not standardized according to DIN.

Course content

The course provides the potential problems of divers in the center and, therefore, aims at advanced scuba divers. There are content and techniques needed to respond properly in emergencies above and below water can. Objectives of the course are to avoid or reduce their impact diving accidents. Requirements

Prerequisite for participating in a Rescue Diver course is the AOWD or qualifying certification, depending on condition about 40 to 50 recorded dives as well as the mastery of diving equipment. In addition, the conclusion of an EFR course or one each first aid, CPR or AED training must be demonstrated. A recent diving efficiency certificate is mandatory in most countries and by many diving organizations. The minimum age for this course is 15 years or 10 years for the Junior Rescue Diver Course PADI. Except for a low restriction to 21 meters, these children diving courses differ only by a child-friendly teaching the same content as in the adult courses.
