Reynald Pedros

Reynald Pedros ( born October 10, 1971 in Orléans, Loiret ) is a former French footballer.

Club career

Pedro, whose parents had immigrated from Portugal, started his career at FC Nantes, from whose talent he came. In the 1994/95 season he won the French Cup with Nantes. Together with Patrice Loko, Christian Karembeu, Claude Makélélé and Nicolas Ouédec - all virtually identical young - the talented, linksfüßige, attacking midfielder was instrumental in the title. The fans spoke of the "Trio magique ". In the same season Pedros ' Nantes thrust forward into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup, where they failed to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In the Champions League season 1995/96 Pedro was there when Nantes eliminated in the quarterfinals Spartak Moscow, the semi-finals but lost to Juventus Turin. 1996/97 was followed by a half a year at Olympique Marseille.

In 1997, Pedro to Italy in the Serie A for AC Parma. There, however, he could not prevail because of the strong competition, nor changed in the first round to Napoli and left the country still in the same season. He returned to France and signed with Olympique Lyonnais. In 1999 he moved to the South of France, we would just play for Montpellier HSC. There he again met his former companion Loko and Ouédec. His time in Montpellier was ambivalent: on the one hand, he won with the club in the summer of 1999, the Inter -Toto Cup (Final victory against Hamburger SV), on the other hand, the club was relegated the following summer from the second division. Pedro played between July 1993 and November 1996 a total of 25 times for the French national team (including 22 during his time at Nantes and three in Marseille), scoring 4 goals. In 1996 he was part of the French squad at the European Championships in England. In this tournament, he was a tragic figure, as he missed the final, decisive penalty in the semi-final against the Czech Republic and France eliminated it.
