Music in construction is an American animated short film directed by Friz Freleng from the year 1941.

Action

The construction of a skyscraper: The construction manager, a lion with a long mane, enters, among cheers of the audience the site and unrolled the blueprint. He knocks briefly with a ruler to the plan holder, peace enters and he begins to conduct classical music the construction process. The clock is now hammered, drilled and poured cement.

In Part 1, the first floor, followed by Part 2, the second floor. A dog waits meanwhile vain for an elevator to take him to the upper floors. Rapidly growing in the high-rise, is even built around corners and completed in time for the closing time clock 17. In the high-rise tip a worker inserts finally a flag is written on the Umpire State. The construction manager is satisfied. The dog, who could not take the elevator, coming out of the building and includes the high doorstep. The entire high-rise building collapses.

Production

Music in the construction came on 6 December 1941 as part of the MGM cartoon series Merrie Melodies into the cinemas. The chief engineer of the film conducts the entire construction process to the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 by Franz Liszt.

Awards

Music in the construction in 1942 for an Oscar in the category " Best Animated Short Film " nomination, but could not prevail against the heartless savior himself.
