Rhein-Neckar-Halle

The Rhein- Neckar -Halle in Eppelheim was built in 1970 as a large sports hall. They can be divided into three halls, with an additional four bowling lanes and a body-building room in the basement and spaces for a restaurant. It is located in the Pestalozzistraße 10

Primarily, the hall for school sport of the adjacent school center with primary, secondary, and junior high school and a high school will be used. Due to the year-round availability of the SAP Arena in Mannheim near the hall, however, already acted frequently as a backup venue of the Handball Bundesliga clubs Rhein- Neckar Löwen.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the hall was the Mecca of all fans of rock and pop music scene. Today well-known bands such as Genesis, AC / DC, Police or Kool & the Gang were guests in Eppelheim and filled the hall on a regular basis with up to 8,000 visitors. She was at election time also the venue for performances of West German political elite. The Rhein- Neckar -Halle at the time was the largest indoor venue in the Rhein- Neckar-Kreis and was not replaced until the late 1980s from the May Market Hall in Mannheim, mainly because of better infrastructure and parking facilities.
