Ricardo Peláez

Ricardo Peláez Linares ( born March 14, 1963 in Mexico City) is a former Mexican football player.

Biography

Association

His professional career began in 1985 when Club América and ended in 2000 with its archrival Guadalajara. Most of the time he played for Club Necaxa, in which he stood for ten years between 1987 and 1997 under contract. In his first season, the Prode 85, Peláez with América Mexican champion. Two more league titles followed with Necaxa in the seasons 1994/95 and 1995 /96 apply. With this club he won the 1995 and the Copa México. In the first season after his move from America ( where he played again in the 1997/98 season) to Guadalajara, the Torneo Invierno 1998, Peláez reached with Chivas the finals against his Exverein Necaxa. Although Guadalajara came to a goalless draw in the first leg at Necaxa, Chivas lost the return match against the groups 0-2 and had the champion therefore Necaxa left.

National

His international debut was Peláez on August 10, 1989 in a game against South Korea (4-2 ), in which he scored all four goals. Overall, he had 43 international appearances in which he scored 16 goals. He had his last international appearance on 13 March 1999 away against the USA ( 2-1 ).

Highlight of his international career was the participation in the Football World Cup in 1998, when he though a total of only 84 minutes was used, but still scored two goals. In the first World Cup game against South Korea ( 3-1 ) he came on immediately after half-time (0-1) for Jaime Ordiales and achieved already in the 54th minute, the important equalizer. In the final group game against the Netherlands (2-2 ), he came on in the 55th minute when the score was 0:2 for Joel Sánchez Ramos and scored the important 1:2 in the 75th minute, before Luis Hernández in injury time compensation succeeded. He had his last world application in the second round against Germany, where he was, however, applied only after the 86th minute (immediately after the 2-1 opening goal of the Germans) for Alberto García Aspe and could therefore put no more accents.
