Richard Bona

Richard Bona ( born October 28, 1967 in Minta ) is a Cameroonian jazz bassist and singer.

After a short stay in Germany Bona went to France, where he played with Manu Dibango, Salif Keita and Didier Lockwood. He also took up with Joe Zawinul. In 1995 he moved to New York City where he worked with musicians like Larry Coryell, Michael and Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Steve Gadd, Chick Corea and Pat Metheny. In 2008, he joined the North Sea Jazz Festival with Bobby McFerrin. He also formed a new group in 2007 together with the musicians Gerald Toto and Lokua Kanza in 2008 occurred when the FMM Festival Musicas do Mundo in Sines Portugal and grossed an album.

Bona teaches bass guitar at New York University.
